Saiy?ki, also known by its British name Monkey, is a Japanese tv play according to the classic sixteenth-century Chinese novel Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en. Filmed in Inner Mongolia and north-west China, the series broadcast from 1978 to 1980 on Nippon Television, and was produced by Nippon Television and International Television Films in conjunction with NHK.
