Good Morning
A light hearted spin on director Yasujiro Ozu theme of these challenges of intergenerational relationships, Good Morning tells the story of two young boys that stop after their parents won't get a television set, speaking in demonstration. Ozu weaves an abundance of subtle gags through a family group portrait as those of his films that are dramatic , mocking the foibles of the adult world through the eyes of his child protagonists. Shot in magnificent color and put at a suburb of Tokyo where house-wives gossip about the neighbors' new washing machine and jobless husbands look for work like doortodoor salesmen, this charming humor refashions Ozu's own quiet classic I Was Born, But... to quietly satirize consumerism in post war Japan.
