This could be life at a British Borstal for younger offenders' shocking and hard narrative. The brutal regime made no effort to reform or enhance the inmates and knowingly invited a power struggle between the'tough' inmate and the'hands'. This film is a remake, by precisely exactly the same director and writer, of a 1977 BBC teleplay banned before broadcast [see Scum (1991)].
