Blood in the Water
For the summer, Percy and Veronica have been housesitting at a sumptuous modern compound in the Hollywood Hills, but the real world of New York, jobs, and young professional problems is just a few days away. Nonetheless, they are in a rush to depart this paradise because the peace has been disturbed by an unwelcome visit from Freedgood, a former college classmate. His life has been plagued by incarceration, questionable business relationships, and drug dealing since their liberal arts years. And, as we soon see, this has resulted in the man's death, a curious LAPD investigator, and a yearning for the mundane strife that appears so much more appealing than remaining in their false Eden.
