The Kids in the Hall
The Kids in the Hall is a sketch comedy group Made in 1984, consisting of comedians Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. Their television series ran from 1988 to 1994 on CBC from Canada, also 1989 to 1995 on CBS and HBO. The theme tune for the series was that the instrumental"With an Average Weekend" by the Canadian ring Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet.
The troupe made a movie, Brain Candy, which was released in 1996. The troupe re formed for a variety of tours and humor festivals in 2000. They published an eight-part Mini Series, Death Comes to Town in January, 2010.
The name of this band originated in Sid Caesar, that, when a joke didn't go overplayed worse than expected, would attribute it to"the children in the hallway", speaking to an organization of young authors hanging across the studio.
