Princess Ja Myung
Jung Ryeo-won, Park Min-young, and Jung Kyung-ho feature in the 2009 South Korean historical drama Ja Myung Go. It aired on SBS for 39 episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:55 from March 9 to July 21, 2009. It's based on the Korean folk tale Prince Hodong and the Princess of Nakrang, which tells the narrative of the Nakrang Kingdom's failure. According to legend, a legendary drum known as the jamyeonggo (literally "the drum that beats by itself") possessed the unusual ability to automatically raise an alert whenever attackers invaded the kingdom. The self-sounding drum made neighboring nations afraid to attack Nakrang, especially the warrior state of Goguryeo. Hodong, a prince from Goguryeo, infiltrated Nakrang with the goal of destroying the drum. However, the prince suddenly fell in love with Nakrang's princess. The princess eventually opted to pull off the drum and abandon her nation for her love. As a result, her country was destroyed, and she was slain. Prince Hodong wept as he held her body in his arms. The drama series, on the other hand, adds a new twist by revealing that the drum is actually a person, inhabited by Ja-myung, the princess of the Nakrang Kingdom's hidden sister. Ra-hee is adored by her people as the princess of Nakrang, whereas Ja-myung survives a murder attempt and lives as a commoner. Prince Hodong of the Goguryeo Kingdom, Nakrang's adversary, is split between two nations and two ladies, and must choose between love and responsibility.
