Matador
Matador is actually just a TV show produced and shown between 1978 and 1982. It's located in the Danish town of Korsbæk between 1947 and 1929. It follows the lives of a range of characters from throughout the social spectrum, focusing specifically on the rivalry between the families of 2 sailors: The banker Hans Christian Varnæs, a recognized neighborhood instrumental, and societal climber Mads Skjern, who arrives in town as the show opens. The name Matador was removed from this board game Monopoly, also the show' Language title's localised edition. Furthermore, in contemporary Danish a"matador" is most frequently utilised to refer to a company tycoon, in the show referring to this character of Mads Skjern and his craftiness as being a freelancer writer.
Directed by Danish film manufacturer Erik Balling, Matador was writer Lise Nørgaard's Notion who composed the bulk of the episodes alongside Jens Louis Petersen Karen Smith and Paul Hammerich. The show is just one of the types of Danish television and reflects the peak of evolution of Danish TV drama by the public service channel Danmarks Radio.
The show has become part of its successful mix of melodrama and a Danish humor in the depiction of characters , partially because of this modern self-understanding of all Danes, which were depicted by a variety of the common actors at the time. But maybe perhaps not because of its true portrayal of a tumultuous Denmark from round the beginning of the Great Depression and throughout Nazi Germany's occupation of Denmark in World War II.
