Degrassi High

Teenagers living on or around De Grassi Street in Toronto, Ontario, Canada are the focus of the third installment of the Degrassi television series. Teens from The Kids of Degrassi Street and Degrassi Junior High were followed from elementary school through high school in this series that originally aired from 1989 to 1991. Downtown Toronto and Centennial College served as the show's filming locations. Like its predecessor, Degrassi High addressed taboo subjects like AIDS, abortion, abuse, alcoholism, cheating, sex, death and suicide, dating, depression, bullying, gay rights, homophobia, racism, drugs, and eating disorders. The September 2007 issue of u're Magazine features an article about the show's effect on Canadian national identity.
