The Stranger

After we are gone, what do we remember folks? Neal MacGregor, a British artist, expired ironically, aged 44, in a rock henhouse that he couldn't operate in, where he lived onto a remote island without water, electricity or heating. The islanders on the rapidly depopulating island, knew little of Neal through the 8 years he lived there. Who was that this Stranger? Can he be a spy documenting IRA paths, as some islanders thought? Was he wanting to take charge of the island? As many others thought was he mad? Or was just seeking privacy? Neal left behind volumes of attractively exemplified notebooks and secret diaries, and this gorgeous enigmatic film pulls together the thought of missing bits, and sensitively paints a portrait of a guy, living on the edge, physically and mentally, and the insular island community he lived amongst.
