The Major and the Minor

Susan Applegate, after one year and twenty-five jobs in New York, decides to return to her hometown. Susan disguises herself as a twelve-year-old and travels for half the price after realizing she doesn't have enough money for the train. She hides in the compartment of Major Philip Kirby, a military school instructor who takes the "kid" under his wing when they are discovered by the conductors.
