Romance in Manhattan

Karel Novak is an incredibly naive Czech immigrant who is taken under the wing of streetwise New York chorus girl Sylvia. With the help of charming cop-on-the-beat Murphy, Sylvia conceals Karel from the migration authorities and inevitably falls in love with him. Along with Karel's illegal-alien status, the story is made complex by a crooked lawyer as well as a group of well-meaning welfare workers who venture to position Sylvia's youngster sibling Frank in a foster home.
