Pocketful of Miracles
Damon Runyon's fairytale, funny and sweet, is told by director Frank Capra. Boozy, a beggar using a basket of oranges, brassy Apple Annie, can be as much as a portion of downtown New York as older Broadway itself. Bootlegger Dave the Dude can be actually a sucker on the apples -- he thinks they attract him luck. However, Dave and Lady Queenie Martin need a lot more than luck when it turns out that Annie is in a jam and they will help: Annie's daughter Louise, who has lived her life in a Spanish convent, is visiting America using a Count along with his own son. The kid of the count wishes to marry Louise, that thinks her mum is part of New York society. It's around Dave and Queenie along with also their cronies that are Runyonesque to show Annie and convince the fisherman and his son that they are hobnobbing using the elite of New York.
