Oscar and Lucinda

Oscar Hopkins becomes an Anglican pastor following a childhood of maltreatment at the hands of his evangelical father. He soon develops a divine obsession with gambling. Lucinda Leplastrier is a wealthy Australian heiress who is in London searching for supplies for her newly bought glass factory back home. Oscar decides to travel to Australia as a missionary and meets Lucinda on the ship, where they develop a mutual obsession. They place a bet that will alter the course of each of their lives.
