Waseem, a Syrian homosexual who works as a hustler for money and is currently seeking refuge in Cologne, uses his sexuality as a weapon and protects himself with it like a shield. In order to scratch out a livelihood, he satisfies the most carnal demands of his johns while maintaining an emotional distance from them. He eventually meets his match in Lars, a compassionate and wealthy professional with a growing personal interest in Waseem. This engrossing story of transactional identity investigates the strategic exchange of trust and intimacy inside a partnership, as well as the divisions that exist between immigrants and the countries that are hosting them in contemporary Europe.
