Imitation of Life

A French widow who dreams to be on Broadway, lora Meredith, has a chance encounter with Annie Johnson, a black single mother. While her point career is pursued by Lora, annie becomes the caretaker of Lora's daughter, Susie. Both women handle the difficulties of motherhood: Lora's thirst for fame threatens her connection with Susie, while Annie daughter fights with her African individuality.
